The founder of Savage Studio, Rachel Savage, is a Bgirl and fitness instructor with a passion for health and wellness via her favorite art form: Hip Hop dance. She began her dance career by starting a Hip Hop program at the University of Utah at age 20. This included teaching credited classes as part of the exercise sport science fitness department. In addition, she started the U of U break club, a school club that provided regular practices, performances, and camaraderie to any students who wanted to be a part of Hip Hop culture. After graduating from the University of Utah in 2012 with two degrees in Finance and Psychology, Rachel had a difficult decision to make. Accept a lucrative investment banking career or follow her dreams of a dance career. Ultimately she decided to go with her passion and started a dance/fitness contracting business called Savage Hip Hop, LLC.
With this business Rachel began working out teaching contracts with the YMCA, After School programs, summer camps and the Salt Lake Housing Authority; this led to 20 different elementary and junior high schools providing Hip Hop dance. In addition, she was able to the implement a Hip Hop dance therapy program at three different youth rehab centers in the Salt Lake area, serving a much needed demographic. Savage also started teaching P90X at the University of Utah and learned how to infuse Hip Hop dance into aerobic workouts and form a variety of exercise formats that include her favorite form of working out. She also performs regularly with Voodoo Entertainment and provides entertainment for a variety of corporate and private events. Savage seeks to use Hip Hop dance as not only a medium of artistic expression, but as a vehicle for full body wellness. The studio Rachel started is an extension of this goal to better the lives of as many individuals as possible through movement, art and dance.
